Petal Junction- New from Highway 10 Designs from Night Owl Quilting

Kathy and I are very excited to announce the newest pattern offering from Highway 10 Designs called Petal Junction.

Petal Junction was designed with large blocks to showcase the beautiful fabrics prints we all love on the bolt and hate to cut into small pieces.  The pattern instructions easily keep directional prints upright. The pattern includes seven sizes from Toddler to King and as always is available as a PDF download or in paper format.

Instructions are included for using both Fat Quarter or Half Yard bundles for the focus fabrics.  The background can be a single fabric, a variety ...

Baby Quarter Sections Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

If you are local to me you will know that these photos were not taken in the last few days, we are having our first snowfall of the season!  These photos were taken earlier in October. when I was finishing up this quilt.

My daughter Kendra and I made this sweet baby quilt for our neighbors who just had their first daughter.  We knew is was a girl ahead of time, so Kendra and I were able to pick out some really pretty fabrics at Needle Crafts and Studio in Beausejour.  (Thanks to Jennifer for being so patient while we ...

My Canada Home Quarter from Night Owl Quilting

Lorraine made this lovely version of the Highway 10 Designs' Home Quarter quilt from a kit she purchased at Keystone Modern Creative.  The fabrics are from Northcott's "My Canada" line.

Lorraine selected the Maple Syrup Pantograph for a very fitting finish.

If you have a fat quarter bundle lying around, Home Quarter is a great pattern.  The large pieces let you enjoy the fabrics you fell in love with, and it is easy to manage directional prints as well.  Sizes from lap to king are included.

Audrey's Quarter Sections from Night Owl Quilting

I had the pleasure of quilting Audrey's version of our Highway 10 Designs Quarter Sections quilt.  Audrey had a vision for this quilt that influenced everything from her color palette to the quilting design that she chose.

Audrey shared that to her the center of the quilt represents the fields flourishing and in fallow.  The outer border is the highway running alongside and the inner border is the ditch between.  After hearing this I knew fancy feathery border was not what this quilt needed!  Audrey opted for the Breath of the gods pantograph which perfectly adds the touch of ...

Minnesota Stars from Night Owl Quilting

I recently had to opportunity to collaborate on a project with Jennifer from Needle Crafts and Studio.  Jennifer got in a great new line of fabric called Forest Jewels from Cloud 9 Fabrics and proposed using it to put together our Highway 10 Designs "Minnesota Stars" pattern.

I was more than excited to use the palette that Jennifer selected. (I believe Jennifer has just a limited number of kits available in her shop.)

Here are a few close ups of the blocks.

I used a mustard colored thread for the quilting and the Flirtatious pantograph seemed to be the perfect ...

Dawn's Alternate Routes from Night Owl Quilting

I recently had the pleasure of quilting this gorgeous version of our Highway 10 Designs Alternate Routes quilt made by Dawn.  The batiks Dawn selected were vibrant and had great contrast to let all the hard work she did piecing this quilt shine.

The Alternate Routes pattern contains 20 layouts but the possibilities don't stop there.  Dawn and her son who will be recipient of this quilt decided on this layout together after she had made all the blocks.

Dawn asked for Quilter's Dream Puff batting and selected the Ebb & Flow pantograph.  The texture created by that combination ...

Modern Minnesota Stars & A New Website from Night Owl Quilting

Our Highway 10 Designs Minnesota Stars pattern is now available in a paper version as well as a PDF download!  Kathy made new version using modern fabric for Up North Quilt Shop in International Falls and we loved it so much we decided to put it on the cover.

The original version in Kansas Troubles prints is still a classic, but this quilt certainly lends itself to different interpretations.

Kathy at www.tamarackshack.blogspot.ca did the piecing and the quilting on this one.  She did let me offer my 2 cents here and there when sharing pictures via text ...
